A Few Things About Santorini
Santorini is a volcanic island in the southern Aegean Sea known as Thira in ancient times and lies about 200 km southeast of Greece’s mainland and is one of the most famous islands in the world.
Fira is the island’s picturesque capital, and the town is perched on the top edge of the Caldera, approximately 260 m above sea level.
You can sit before the caldera while having lunch or a drink overlooking the amazing Aegean Sea. This magical island is a must-see when visiting Greece and is easily accessible by cruise ship, ferry, or airplane.
A Few Things About Athens
Athens is the capital of Greece and its largest city, with a population of about 4 million people. It’s also the country’s cultural, financial, and political center. Athens has been inhabited for at least 3,000 years and was named after Athena (the goddess of wisdom).
The Acropolis sits atop a hill overlooking the city. It’s one of Greece’s most famous landmarks and contains several important ancient buildings, including the Parthenon (a temple dedicated to Athena), Erechtheion (another temple), and Propylaea (an entranceway).
The Acropolis Museum opened in 2007 after extensive renovations were made to an old building to house artifacts from nearby sites such as Olympia or Delphi, which were unearthed when excavations began in 1904 by archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann who discovered what he believed was King Agamemnon’s tomb inside the Mycenaean citadel.
The All-Time Famous Mykonos!
Mykonos is a small island in the Aegean Sea, located south of the Greek mainland. Mykonos is known for its beautiful beaches and, of course, its wild nightlife. Thanks to its many hotels, clubs, bars, and beautiful beaches, it’s also one of Greece’s most popular tourist destinations.
Evidence suggests that it was once home to an important port town called Naxos, which controlled trade routes throughout this region during ancient times until its decline following several earthquakes.
Today’s modern city retains some vestiges from its past glory days. You’ll find ruins from ancient buildings scattered throughout the town. But most visitors come here now because they want more than history lessons: Beaches and parties!
Our Neighbor Kusadasi in Turkey!
Kusadasi, meaning “Bird Island,” is one of Turkey’s beach resort towns and a popular cruise ship destination on the western Aegean coast, 90 kilometers south of Izmir.
Kusadasi is regarded as one of the most beautiful Aegean towns. It is a starting point for exploration due to its proximity to key historical monuments such as Ephesus and the Temple of Artemis. You can also visit the Virgin Mary’s home while visiting Kusadasi.
What about the Greek Island of Patmos
Patmos belongs to the northern part of the Dodecanese island group. The island’s most important monument is the Monastery of Saint John, fortress-like with great walls protecting it, and sits on the top of a hill above the main town (Chora).
Another popular monument is the Cave of the Apocalypse, where according to tradition, Apostle John was inspired to write the Book of Revelation.
Patmos is a wonderful island to visit, and this honeymoon package will allow you to visit it easily from the comfort of your cruise ship. Explore the villages, indulge in the fantastic cuisine, or splash on one of its magnificent beaches.
