How to reach the island of Mykonos
You can reach the island by getting a connecting flight from Eleftherios Venizelos, Athens’ airport or by fast ferry from Piraeus or Rafina ports. When you get to the island you can get around using buses, taxis or small boats that take you around the island. You can also hire a car but you should keep in mind that you cannot drive in Chora, the capital.

If you look for a more quiet beach then you should go to Elia beach. It is the longest sandy beach of the island, there you find tavernas, bars and water sports facilities, parasailing, windsurfing. This is the place most visited by celebrities. The pictureque landscape makes the place ideal for relaxation.
Spending a day in Chora
However, a day spent if Chora is worthwhile. The best time to see the town is in the morning when everyone heads to sa beach or still sleeps after an all-night party. Go to the Venetian Castle, Paraportiani, the oldest and most famous chuch of Mykonos. Going towards the port you can see the Archaelogical Museum, which exhibits vases and sculptures from Delos. In addition the Nautical Museum, and the folklore Museum have a lot of interesting displays.
Along the coastline you can admire the “Little Venice” so called because of its houses built over the water, with their colorful wooden balconies and waves crashing beneath them. On the other side of the bay you can see the ‘windmills’ the famous landmark of Mykonos.
Of course walking through the narrow cobbled streets in Chora during the evening is a complete different experience. Whitewashed houses, blue-painted windows and balconies, filled with colourful flowers are very impressive. Chora is also famous for its posh street, Matogianni, where you can find everything your hear desires art works, brand name clothing, trendy jewellery.
